Spare Tire Delete Installation

Installation of the Spare tire delete molle plate is super easy and can be installed in an hour. Let me guide you through the process.

You’ll need the following tools:

  • Ratchet or electric impact gun
  • 17mm socket
  • 15mm socket
  • T30 bit and driver

First we will start by removing your spare tire. No illustration needed for this as it should be easy enough for anyone too.

Open your tailgate and remove the plastic panel as shown by removing the t30 bolts circled in red.

Locate the handle on top of the plastic panel and remove the rubber lining shown on the picture.

Removing the liner will expose another t30 bolt. Remove the bolt.

Remove the handle trim by pulling up as shown.

Pull out on the lower portion of the plastic panel with your left hand while holding the tailgate with your right hand as shown.

Once the lower portion of the panel has been released, pull on the top portion as shown. Remove the panel and set it aside.

Removing the panel exposes these studs (circled in red) for the spare tire mount. They will have 17mm nuts (not pictured), remove the nuts.

Come to the outside of the tailgate and remove the spare tire mount by removing the remaining bolts circled in red. You’ll need the 17mm again for this.

Plug the 3 holes circled in red with the provided rubber plugs.

Use the bolts and spacers provided and install them on the 2 top holes as show. If your kit comes with rubber washers, please install those between the spacers and the tailgate door. It is not shown on the picture provided but an arrow indicates where it should go. Leave the bolts loose so you have room to install the bottom hardware.

Lift up on the bottom of the plate and install the bolts spacers, and rubber washers (if provided) as shown.

Now you can tighten all 4 bolts circled in red.

Congratulation on the spare tire delete molle plate installation!!!
